TIMBER! A History of Local Logging and the Path Toward Sustainability
Join us for a thought-provoking discussion of logging in our local forests, how proper logging practices and private landownership have come into conflict regarding protected species, and how natural disasters — especially fires — have impacted environmental policy.
Panelists: Ed Orre — Cal Fire Division Chief, Resource Management for the Santa Clara Unit; Lisa Robinson — a member of the Conference of California Historical Societies and the Society of California Archivists; and Bryan Largay of the Land Trust of Santa Cruz County. Moderated by Judi Heher of the Friends of the Scotts Valley Library.
Note date change: FEBRUARY 26, 6:30PM. Register for zoom or in-person attendance by clicking here.
Friends Corner
Be sure to check out The Scotts Valley Friend’s corner (near the book hold area) for monthly celebrations and how to join the Friends. Currently we have a display to learn more about the Our Community Reads program. We also have a few copies of Kingsolver’s book, which you may borrow on the honor system and return when you’re done.
